Will a tooth implant show up on the metal screening?
Yes.
Will a TSA agent need to run a wand over my jaw?
Not likely. A dental implant has a diameter between 3.4 and 5.5 mm. And the agent can see where it is located.
What about artificial hips and knees?
Prosthetics and metal joint replacements may trigger a secondary screening. We have never heard of an incident where an implant prompted a wand or intrusive body check.
A tooth implant is still the best option for restoring a lost tooth
The very slim chance that it could delay you at an airport screening checkpoint is no reason to avoid getting a dental implant.
A dental implant is a permanent replacement for all parts of the tooth. It consists of three parts: the post (usually titanium), the abutment, and the restoration.
Tooth implants are used in a variety of applications for people of all ages. For instance, an implant can support a crown. Multiple implants can support bridges and dentures. But not everyone is an ideal candidate.
