The chemicals triclosan and triclocarban are on a list the FDA recently required be removed from hand and body soap. The thinking is based on a couple of questions. First, are these antibacterial chemicals making a health difference? And, are we manufacturing a line of products that create resistant bacteria in people and our environment?
Colgate Total is the only toothpaste in the United States with triclosan. It remains on the market. There are safer options available. And, we always recommend against abrasives like the tartar control component in this toothpaste. Look for for the simplest ingredient label and use an electric brush with soft and “sensititve” polished bristles. Shop the bottom shelf.
